Opeyemi Oke, the Chief Executive Officer, Dookes Innovative Centre, on Wednesday, said that provision of infrastructure was key to the development of Badagry.

Oke told journalists in Badagry that alleged poor representation at the state and Federal levels had affected the development of the town.

‘‘Badagry has remained a town of enormous potential for several decades and is regarded at both the local and international level as the gateway to civilisation in Nigeria.

‘‘The ancient town is supposed to have performed much better in terms of human and economic development  but sadly, the place is underdeveloped with a little being done to build a new crop of leaders.

‘‘Infrastructure and socio economic development is key in taking Badagry to the next level, so the youth must be more committed and ensure that this city gets the status it deserves.

‘‘The State Government must be commended for its efforts in developing the area but the people must know  that the government cannot do everything and so must take responsibilities at some points,’’ he said.

Oke revealed that a political leaders summit would take place in Badagry in a bid to install a new set of leaders with a diverse orientation.

He advised Nigerians to take more responsibilities in certain situations, noting that the government needed the help of its citizens.

The summit will hold at the Auditorium of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Topo, Badagry
