A 17 year old project in the Niger Delta is causing trouble for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Residents of Polaku community in Bayelsa are annoyed because of the abandoned road linking Kolokuma with Sabagriea and connecting Polaku.

It would also link Kolokuma and Opokuma Local Government Areas to Yenagoa, the state capital.

Despite the volume of traffic that the road would ease, it has not been completed in almost twenty years.

The Paramount Ruler of Polaku, Barnabas Tarila, said that the project was started over 17 years ago by the NDDC.

Tarila said that the non completion of the road project had taken a negative toll on the people and cause a reduction in their ability to progressively realise their economic development potentials.

Travelers from Polaku to Yenagoa are now compelled to be ferried across the Taylor Creek, from where they ride on commercial motorcycles to Kaiama, along the East-West road.
